Taking care of the cleanliness of your home can be a lot of work. But, there are many ways to make it a more enjoyable experience. Infusing your regular cleaning products with different essentials oils can help. Essential oils have scents that are not only therapeutic for you but, many of them also have antiseptic, antibacterial and germ-fighting properties. Here are a few essential oils you can use to clean your carpets, floors, and countertops!

Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree oil is extracted from a plant that is native to New Zealand and Australia. It is a wonderful option for cleaning as it fights germs, bacteria, and viruses. When mixed with water and vinegar, tea tree oil can be added to a spray bottle and used to clean anything from bathroom and kitchen countertops to shower tiles. Tea tree oil is a great option for bathrooms as it aids in combating mold and mildew. Tea tree oil can also help clean out your washing machine. We don’t often think about it, but just like your air ducts and vents need to be regularly cleaned, so do your washer and dryer. When all that cleaning is done, you’ll get to enjoy the fresh and energizing scent of the tea tree oil for days to follow.

Lemon Essential Oil

Many cleaning products are lemon-scented but, that doesn’t mean that they actually contain lemon essential oil. More often, they include some kind of fragrance that mimics the smell of lemon essential oil but doesn’t actually have any of the benefits of the real oil.  Natural lemon essential oil is antiseptic, anti-fungal and disinfectant. It is especially useful when cleaning fabrics. A few drops of essential oil can be added to your regular laundry detergent to help remove stains from your clothes. Lemon essential oil can also be used to clean your carpets. Adding a few drops to your regular cleaning solution will help lift stains and brighten the look of your carpets.  While you enjoy your carpet’s fresh look you’ll also love the light, clean and uplifting scent that is left behind.

Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender essential oil is another great addition you might consider adding to your cleaning products. Lavender is an excellent deodorizer and also has antiviral, antibacterial and antiseptic properties. Cloths infused with lavender can help get rid of smells in your fridge, freezer, cupboards or clothing. Simply add a few drops to a moist cloth and leave in the desired area for a few days. Lavender can also be used as a part of a dishwashing solution. Add a few drops to an unscented dish detergent to help keep your dishes and dish rag clean and fresh.

While essentials oils are a wonderful way to enhance your regular cleaning routine, you might also want to consider professional cleaning for your carpets, tiles and grout, upholstery, vents and ducts. For more information about our professional cleaning services contact us here.
