How to Remove These Tough Carpet Stains
Even when you own particularly resilient or low-maintenance carpeting, you are still going to have to be on top of any spills that might occur. Spilling anything on a carpet is obviously not going to be a good thing. However, when it comes down to it, there are certain things that you’ll want to make sure are never spilled on your carpet because they are significantly harder to remove.
But just knowing what not to spill on a carpet will only go so far. You also need to know how to react when one of these items does inevitably spill on your carpet. So here is a detailed breakdown of these various types of extremely tough carpet stains and how to effectively clean them.
Coffee
This dark morning beverage might be refreshing and energizing but it is also very harmful to your carpet. So if you ever have an accident where some coffee manages to find its way onto your carpet, then you are going to want to make sure that you grab a cloth to begin soaking up the liquid as fast as possible. Once as much of the coffee as possible has been soaked up, it is time to move onto the next step.
This involves taking a cup and a half of warm water and mixing it with half a cup of bleach inside of a spray bottle. This mixture should then be sprayed onto the affected area, allowed to sit for a few seconds, and then blot it out. Once the area has been blotted for a minute or two, it should be examined to see if the stain has disappeared. This process can be repeated until you are able to fully remove the stain.
Blood
Cleaning up blood requires a response time that is even faster than with the coffee. This is because blood is able to stain almost any surface and will be quick to absorb into the carpet fibers. The very first step in trying to remove some fresh blood from a carpet will be to take a couple of tablespoons of dishwashing liquid soap and then combining it with several cups of cold water. This should all be done within a spray bottle so the mixture can be easily applied to the area with the blood. It should then be applied to the point where that area of the carpet is visibly soaked.
At this point, you can grab a cloth and begin blotting at the blood stain to help remove it. After some thorough blotting, the area should be rinsed with cold water and examined to see if the process needs to be repeated.
